Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the situation with the competition for the post of President of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was discussed on February 3.
The meeting was attended by Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Serhii Babak, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Higher Education of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Yulia Hryshyna, Honorary President of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Viacheslav Bryukhovetsky, acting President of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Denys Azarov, Professor Serhii Kvit, Associate Professor Oleksandra Humenna and representatives of the student community.
"The Government has never interfered and will not interfere in the selection process of the educational institution. Today the Ministry of Education and Science will cancel the order on the repeated competition for the position of the President of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy," said Denys Shmyhal.
The meeting’s participants agreed that the university community would set up a working group under the patronage of Honorary President of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Viacheslav Bryukhovetsky to resolve the situation among the university staff to avoid long lawsuits in the future.
