On 22 December, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine signed a Grant and Project Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, KfW and the Communal Enterprise Chernivtsivodokanal. It concerns the attraction of EUR 16.4 million of grant funds from KfW for the modernization of the municipal water sector of Chernivtsi.

"Today we have signed an important document with our German partners, which will allow us to continue the project aimed at modernizing the municipal water sector of Chernivtsi. Cooperation in this direction was launched before the full-scale invasion of russia into Ukraine. Therefore, it is crucial for us to ensure its consistency now, in such a difficult time for Ukraine. I am grateful to the international partners who continue not only to support the rapid recovery of Ukraine, but also contribute to the successful completion of joint long-term projects," said acting Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Vasyl Lozynskyy.

In particular, the funds raised will be used for the reconstruction of main water supply networks, pumping stations and treatment facilities, purchase and installation of equipment (smart meters, repair and measuring devices, chemical laboratory equipment, special and technological transport, tools, etc.)

To recap, the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Germany on financial cooperation was signed on December 17, 2020 and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on June 15, 2021.
