MCIP to promote the establishment of leading world media outlets in Ukraine
On May 27, about 40 foreign journalists accredited to work in Ukraine met with the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy (MCIP)at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.
"The truth is our weapon. Thanks to openness, Ukraine has reliable partners and allies in the fight against the enemy. MCIP fully supports the media around the world, which effectively and objectively cover the war in Ukraine. We will do our best to open representative offices of leading foreign media in our country, to fight even better against russian fakes and outright lies of the occupier and as a result to win both in the information space and in battle," said Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Taras Shevchenko.
During the meeting, the participants discussed issues of accreditation by the Armed Forces to work in Ukraine, customs rules on professional equipment of journalists, rules of conduct during martial law and curfew, access to news sources and civil servants, rules of shooting in combat areas and spots of airstrikes as well as other topical issues of cooperation.
It should be noted that recently the MCIP initiated a Government decision to simplify the conditions of stay of foreign journalists in Ukraine. In fact, the Cabinet of Ministers lifted restrictions on journalists, which allowed foreigners to stay in Ukraine for only 90 days. Under the decision, the journalists are afforded to stay until the end of martial law without a temporary residence permit.
