Following the meeting of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy with members of the families of the fallen defenders of Ukraine and ensuring the fulfillment of the protocol order of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the Council of Families of the Fallen Defenders. Participating in the event were Minister of Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina, representatives of the Office of the President and concerned directorates of the Ministry.
The participants discussed urgent issues, in particular the determination of the status of family members of the fallen defenders of Ukraine at the legislative level.
"The issues of veterans' policy are a matter of national security. Of particular importance to society is the topic of determining the status of the families of the dead warriors. Therefore, we must create an appropriate legally sound mechanism that will work. The way to this is transparent communication among all participants in the process," the Minister for Veterans Affairs stressed.
Yulia Laputina gave a commission to the staff of the Ministry to communicate with the families of the victims aimed to prepare the relevant legal developments that will form the basis of legislative initiatives. The next working meeting, where specific proposals will be discussed, is scheduled for Friday, October 22.
