The World Economic Forum in Davos hosted the Diia Reels event, where the Ministry of Digital Transformation shared results achieved in digital transformation during the full-scale war and presented updates to the Diia ecosystem. Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and Estonian Digital Development Undersecretary Luukas Kristjan Ilves presented an Estonian state application mRiik, created on the basis of Ukrainian Diia.

“The digital infrastructure is developed at a level that allows the state to continue working uninterruptedly even during a full-scale war. We have adapted Diia to the challenges of wartime, and now it is the most convenient and sometimes the only tool for providing public services. Anytime and anywhere. Now the app is going international, and the most digital country, Estonia, is studying Ukrainian experience and launching its own app based on our Diia. The Ukrainian product is becoming interesting for export, and we will do our best for as many countries as possible to make public services fast and convenient,” said Mykhailo Fedorov.

During his address, Mykhailo Fedorov spoke about Ukraine’s digital resilience, digital transformation during a full-scale war, and the update to the Diia ecosystem.

The Estonian delegation also presented the mRiik app created on the basis of Diia. In the course of cooperation with Estonian colleagues, the Diia team shared the application code and approaches to UX/UI design. Starting February, mRiik will be available for testers, and its full launch is planned for the middle of this year.

According to Kristjan Järvan, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology of Estonia, a digital state should be where the people are, and currently the main means of communication for many people is a smartphone. The mRiik app will make communication with the state and access to services much easier. At first, the mRiik app will be open for testing and feedback, because the government wants to get immediate feedback on how to further develop the application.

Digital Development Undersecretary Luukas Kristjan Ilves said that Estonia had been contributing to the development of Ukraine’s digital state for almost a decade, and over the past few years, the Ukrainian e-state solution Diia had become the best in the world. And it is a pleasure that in cooperation with the Information Systems Department and the State Enterprise Diia, an Estonian national mobile application built on the technical components and design of Diia will soon be presented.
