Today, the Government has approved the procedure for monitoring compliance with international humanitarian law.
During the monitoring, cases of violations of IHL will be recorded and entered into a special electronic register. The data will then be forwarded to relevant international organisations.
This will ensure a quick response to violations of IHL and subsequent prosecution of perpetrators.
The decision to create an electronic register of IHL violations was made at a meeting of the Interagency Commission on the Application and Implementation of International Humanitarian Law in Ukraine, chaired by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.
As a reminder, the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories is the state body responsible for implementing the state policy on compliance with IHL in Ukraine.
