A simplified procedure for approving unmanned aerial systems and electronic warfare equipment is now in place. They will be allowed into the army on the basis of a joint departmental test report or based on the results of a study of the tactical and technical characteristics declared by the manufacturer.
Also, all state customers are allowed to purchase UAVs and electronic warfare equipment if they have conducted joint departmental tests with manufacturers.
The Government adopted the resolution drafted by the Ministry of Defence.
From now on, the General Staff will approve technical requirements for UAV types, specifying the tactical and technical characteristics that such goods must meet in order to be allowed to operate.
In addition, the General Staff is obliged to approve technical requirements for electronic warfare equipment and their current need for each type of electronic warfare equipment. The Ministry of Defence will also be responsible for submitting the relevant technical requirements.
Previously, there was no defined timeframe and procedure. As a result, it took months for weapons to be approved for use and supplied to military units.
Such a delay is unacceptable in a full-scale war, so the Ministry of Defence initiated the aforementioned changes.
