On January 31, 2020, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is visiting Ukraine.
An agenda of one-one-one meeting encapsulated issues related to bilateral political and practical cooperation between Ukraine and the US. During the talks, the sides placed a special emphasis on coordinated actions of Ukraine and the US in the international arena aimed at restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, practical cooperation in the security sphere, as well as maintaining active bilateral dialogue at all levels within the existing Ukrainian-American partnership format .
In this context, the Foreign Minister expressed deep gratitude to the US Administration and Congress for systematic support and extension of practical assistance to Ukraine. Vadym Prystaiko stressed that Ukraine is a US partner in maintaining international security and is interested in attracting strategic US investments in the military, technical, energy and other fields.
In the course of a meeting, US Secretary of State assured Ukraine of the US resounding support in stopping Russia's aggression and restoring Ukraine's full sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is demonstrated by the US imposition of additional sanctions on individuals and entities in Crimea. At the same time, the US side emphasized the importance of maintaining the high dynamics and effectiveness of reforms in Ukraine.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation with international organizations and to maintain contacts on all bilateral issues of practical cooperation.
