The successes of decentralization reform and regional development in Ukraine were the key topics of the meeting of the Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States, a.i. Kristina Kvien.
"I am grateful to Ms. Kristina Kvien, for a fruitful meeting. I would like to emphasize that the United States Government is actively supporting decentralization reform, in particular through such USAID programs as DOBRE and HOVERLA, as well as through the Peace Corps Community Development Project. I hope that our productive cooperation in the field of communities and regions development will continue," said Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.
Thus, due to the decentralization reform, the size of local budgets has quadrupled from 2014 to 2021. The parties also discussed the results of the President's Great Construction Program, urban development reform, new approaches in modern regional policy and opportunities for economic growth of communities through the development of infrastructure for industrial parks.
"I am happy to meet and discuss strategically important topics, especially the decentralization reform. After all, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development has made progress in this reform. We congratulate you on that and wish further success!" said Chargé d'Affaires Kristina Kvien.
Earlier, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov said that the G7 Ambassadors welcomed Ukraine’s success in uniting territorial communities and stressed that this was an example of its ability to implement reforms.
