On March 26, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleh Nemchinov held a working meeting with EU representatives: Peter Wagner, Head of the Support Group for Ukraine at the European Commission, and Matti Maasikas, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine.
On behalf of the Government, the Minister expressed gratitude to the EU for the comprehensive support for the implementation of reforms. In their turn, EU representatives confirmed their readiness to continue existing support instruments and to create new ones.
Ukraine, like the rest of the world, is currently experiencing a crisis related to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the Ukrainian authorities are focused on providing an appropriate response. The EU will assist Ukraine in the fight against coronavirus and its consequences, including:
· Support for the health care system: enhanced coordination at the interstate level, support for front-line hospitals in pandemic prevention, etc.
· Support in solving social issues: assistance to the elderly, online education, child care;
· Credit support for small and medium-sized businesses to exit the crisis with minimum losses.
"Together with the anti-crisis measures, the Government is planning to accelerate and deepen reform in many areas, including the implementation of public administration reform in line with European principles. And I, as the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers, has confirmed the irreversibility of the reforms in public administration sector to build an efficient and modern state apparatus capable of providing a professional response to the current challenges", summed up Oleh Nemchinov.
