UNICEF to provide expert support to the Ministry of Social Policy to overcome the aftereffects of the epidemic and to ensure the development of children’s rights protection programs
Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Maryna Lazebna and representatives of the UNICEF Children's Fund in Ukraine discussed during a video conference the ways to cooperate on protection of children's rights and overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine.
The parties agreed that the Fund would provide communication and expert support to the Ministry in addressing the epidemic's aftereffects in the context of the protection of the rights of the child.
"The high-quality expert analytics provided by the UNICEF Fund and other international organizations, as well as accurate statistics, are the basis needed to build a social policy on protecting children's rights and modeling the future in times of crisis," stressed Maryna Lazebna.
Artur Aivazov, the Social Policy Chief at the UNICEF Office in Ukraine, said that an analysis of child poverty in Ukraine, developed jointly with the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, would be provided soon. This document can become an analytical basis for overcoming the negative effects of the epidemic in Ukraine and will allow through 8-10 months after the quarantine is over to get to the stage of introducing systemic reforms in the field of protection of the rights of the child.
