Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Olexandr Saienko met with the newly-appointed Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze during his visit to Georgia on July 17.

During the meeting Olexandr Saienko congratulated the Prime Minister of Georgia on his appointment to the post and formation of the new Government and on behalf of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman invited to make an official visit to Ukraine this fall.

"This visit could be timed to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations between Ukraine and Georgia", noted the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The top officials also discussed holding a meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Such a meeting may take place this year.

During the meeting, they also considered a possibility of travels for the citizens of two states between Ukraine and Georgia on internal passports. The Georgian side expressed readiness to accelerate internal procedures, which would allow opening up the opportunity for mutual trips.

In addition, the parties expressed their readiness to intensify cooperation in the development of transport corridors within the framework of the New Silk Road.

"Ukraine expresses readiness to continue a constructive dialogue and cooperation on improving the existing and developing new transport routes, as well as ro remove obstacles to the movement of goods and services. In this regard, the issue of development of the New Silk Road is urgent", said Olexandr Saienko, adding that the development of such transport corridors would significantly increase the volume of Ukrainian exports.

Moreover, the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Georgia exchanged views on the reforms being carried out by the governments of the two countries, in particular in public administration, economy, and education.

"Ukraine highly appreciates the development of bilateral relations in recent years, the quintessence of which was the establishment of a strategic partnership between Ukraine and Georgia, which positively influenced trade relations. I think that we will gradually achieve an increase in the volume of mutual trade to $1 billion", summed up Olexandr Saienko.
