Infrastructure Ministry: Negotiations in Istanbul on functioning of Grain Initiative concluded
Negotiations in Istanbul on the functioning of the Grain Initiative have been concluded. “The UN and Turkey, as signatories to the Initiative, recognise that the Grain Initiative is critical to global food security and that it must function in a sustainable manner. Therefore, at their suggestion, further consultations on unblocking the Initiative will continue online,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
The Ukrainian delegation reiterated that the Grain Initiative should be extended for a longer period and further expanded. This will provide predictability and confidence to both the global and Ukrainian markets. “But first, it is necessary to resume the registration of the incoming fleet and inspections without artificial delays and in accordance with the procedures of the Joint Coordination Centre,” he added.
