  • Ministry of Infrastructure launches monitoring of all transport facilities to improve access for low mobility groups

    The action plan of the Ministry of Infrastructure for the implementation of the Strategy for the Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine was presented by Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov at the first meeting of the Barrier-Free Environment Council. The event was held at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska with the participation of Government representatives chaired by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

    The Barrier-Free Environment Council was established to monitor the implementation of the National Strategy for the Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine until 2030.

    Safe and comfortable access to cars, buses, railway stations, airports for each passenger is a priority of the Ministry of Infrastructure. In 2021 - 2022 the following events will be held:

    • monitoring the availability of all key infrastructure facilities; introduction of new navigation taking into account the needs of low mobility groups (LMG); updating the regulatory framework (SBS, SSU, etc.), bringing to international standards, which provides for the standardization of the needs of LMGs at the stage of project development;
    • launch of training programs to increase the level of communication of personnel of transport infrastructure facilities.

    The Ministry's active cooperation with international and non-governmental organizations, which includes the exchange of experience and open dialogue, will accelerate the implementation of the plans.

    "Our plan to build the country under the "Great Construction" program applies to all Ukrainians, regardless of gender, age or health status. I am grateful to the First Lady team for giving us an additional platform to coordinate actions to build barrier-free infrastructure. We will exert every effort to make all citizens of Ukraine, without exception, feel comfortable traveling," said in his statement Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

    It should be noted that at the initiative of the First Lady, the Ministry of Infrastructure launched a project together with UNICEF Ukraine on the basis of Boryspil International Airport. Its goal is to bring the airport space to international standards of comfort and safety for reduced mobility groups.
