  • Ministry of Finance receives ninth tranche of EUR 1.5 billion in large-scale EU macro-financial assistance
Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, posted 23 October 2023 13:18

Today, on October 23, Ukraine received the ninth tranche of EUR 1.5 billion as part of a large-scale Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) from the EU for 2023.

In 2023, the State Budget of Ukraine has already received EUR 15 billion in concessional MFA loans. The current program provides for financing in the total amount of up to EUR 18 billion in 2023.

The MFA is provided on unprecedentedly concessional terms and is directed to finance priority expenditures of the State Budget of Ukraine. The loan has a maturity of 35 years, and the EU will cover interest and other loan servicing fees instead of Ukraine.

“The European Union is a key partner of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has received EUR 22.2 billion in direct budget support from the EU. I am grateful to my colleagues from the EU for their leadership in supporting Ukraine and timely financial assistance which helps the Government of Ukraine to ensure stable and full financing of the State Budget expenditures and to maintain the smooth functioning of the financial system,” Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko said.

Two more tranches are expected to be disbursed under this program by the end of 2023, taking into account the level of Ukraine’s compliance with the structural policy conditions agreed by the parties.
