Ministry of Finance: Ukraine will receive EUR 200 million for the development of urban electric transport
Today, February 17, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the financing agreement on the Ukraine Urban Public Transport FL II Project between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank. 298 MPs of Ukraine voted for this decision. The agreement provides for a loan of EUR 200 million to Ukraine for the purchase of 20 trams, 264 trolleybuses and 65 electric buses. The obtained funds will enable cities to develop electric transport infrastructure and route network in Ukraine.
As part of the project Ukraine Urban Public Transport FL II funds will be used to purchase new buses, trolleybuses, trams and subway cars. The construction and modernization of tram and trolleybus lines and other works in the cities of Cherkasy, Bila Tserkva, Kamianske, Dnipro, Lviv, Kremenchuk and Zaporizhia are also envisaged. Funds for the purchase of rolling stock of public transport will be distributed among the cities of Ukraine. Previously, within the framework of this project, cities will have an opportunity to receive funds for the purchase of transport, as well as the renovation and construction of new transport infrastructure in the following cities:
Severodonetsk (4 trolleybuses and 10 electric buses),
Vinnytsia (40 new trolleybuses and 10 electric buses complete with 5 charging stations),
Uzhhorod (5 electric buses with charging stations),
Cherkasy (45 new trolleybuses),
Kremenchuk (10 new trolleybuses, as well as construction of a new trolleybus line),
Bila Tserkva (25 new trolleybuses, as well as repair and modernization of trolleybus lines and traction substations),
Melitopol (10 electric buses and 5 charging stations),
Kamianske (10 new trams),
Khmelnytsky (50 new trolleybuses without autonomous run and 10 new trolleybuses with autonomous run),
Ternopil (30 new trolleybuses),
Kryvyy Rih (10 new trams),
Dnipro (it is planned to provide funds for the reconstruction of the tram line of the route with tram lines for departure on the route, with the modernization of the depot, and the purchase of trams in the city of Dnipro),
Lutsk (30 new trolleybuses, of which 24 - without autonomous run; 6 - with autonomous run),
Zaporizhia (it is planned to provide funds for the reconstruction of the catenary, tram track),
Lviv (it is planned to provide funds for the overhaul of tram cars and reconstruction of the tram track),
Poltava (it is planned to provide funds for the modernization of the electric transport system; overhaul and replacement of equipment of 6 traction substations of the trolleybus network; purchase of 20 trolleybuses with autonomous run),
Odessa (30 new electric buses),
Chernivtsi (20 new trolleybuses with autonomous run).
The decision of the Verkhovna Rada to ratify the Financing Agreement on the Ukraine Urban Public Transport FL II Project is a very important step that will provide Ukraine with a legal basis for further implementation of this project. In the near future we expect the first contracts for the supply of new environmentally friendly public transport for the cities of Ukraine be signed", added Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava.

Ukraine Urban Public Transport FL II Project is a continuation of the joint with the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development project Ukraine Urban Public Transport FL I, which since May 2017 is already being implemented in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Odessa, Lviv, Zaporizhia, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Ternopil and Chernihiv.
