Finance Ministry: The United States decided to provide Ukraine with a sovereign loan guarantee of up to USD 1 billion
The United States of America decided to provide Ukraine with a sovereign loan guarantee of up to USD 1 billion to support economic reforms and continue engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The decision builds on the support that the United States and the G7 countries, international financial institutions render to Ukraine to help the economy during increasing tensions from the Russian Federation.
The Minister of Finance thanked the United States for its strong commitment to the Ukrainian people.
"We are grateful to the United States for many years of cooperation and strong support. The U.S. loan guarantee will be an integral part of ensuring Ukraine's economic stability and is an important signal to the international markets", noted Sergii Marchenko.
The United States provided Ukraine with three separate sovereign loan guarantees worth USD 1 billion from 2014 to 2016. These loan guarantees played an important role in stabilizing the economy in the time of Russian aggression.
