The draft law "On the National Target Program Drinking Water of Ukraine for 2022-2026" was adopted in the second reading and in general. The document developed by the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development is designed to modernize the water supply system in communities. This was announced by Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov.
"The adopted bill is of paramount importance, because there are still cities in Ukraine that do not have a regular supply of quality potable water. The document provides a legal basis for the implementation of the state program Drinking Water of Ukraine and ensuring sustainable development and reconstruction of centralized water supply and sewerage systems in communities. The state budget for 2022 provides funding for the program in the amount of Uah 1 billion. I thank the MPs for their support of this important document and all those who worked on its development, including the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada," Oleksii Chernyshov said.
It should be noted that the Drinking Water of Ukraine Program envisages the implementation of more than 1,700 infrastructure projects in the regions during 2022-2026. We are talking about the construction and reconstruction of water supply and sewerage networks, water intakes, water treatment plants, basic laboratories for quality control of drinking water, wastewater as well as equipping them with modern control and analytical equipment and more.
As was reported earlier the Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov stressed that the issue of providing the population with quality potable water is one of the Government's priorities, as water is still supplied on schedule in some settlements of Ukraine.
