Ministry of Energy and the World Bank have begun work on Ukraine's long-term Energy Strategy

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank, and Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at teh World Bank. The parties discussed the results of their joint work and further steps for cooperation. In particular, Denys Shmyhal expressed his gratitude for the preparation of RDNA5 and the implementation of joint initiatives in the energy sector.

Denys Shmyhal announced the start of joint work with the World Bank on a long-term Energy Strategy. According to him, this document will shape a new vision for the development of the Ukrainian power system and a clear roadmap for its recovery and modernisation.

"An important part of shaping the strategy is a scenario-based approach defining the role of all generation types aimed at the stable operation of the energy system. The core pillars of the future document should be energy security, integration into the European market, the social dimension, and stronger market mechanisms," Denys Shmyhal emphasised.

He thanked Antonella Bassani, Anna Bjerde and the World Bank for their consistent support of Ukraine – financial, expert and institutional.

"The World Bank remains our reliable partner in strengthening energy sustainability, pursuing reforms and integrating with the EU energy market," stressed the First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal.
