The largest repair campaign since Ukraine’s independence is currently underway to stabilise the power system and prepare for the heating season. Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk said this on the air of the national telethon.
“We have a set of measures defined by the Government. And we are systematically monitoring the implementation of these measures by both companies and local administrations to ensure maximum readiness for the heating season,” he said.
He also noted that all the necessary measures had been taken to stabilise the power system. For example, all technical measures to prepare the operation of nuclear generation facilities have been completed ahead of schedule. This adds capacity and the ability to meet the increased demand for electricity.
Measures are being taken to prepare critical infrastructure facilities for winter power outages so that they can respond promptly in various scenarios. In particular, this includes installing backup power supplies for critical infrastructure facilities.
The situation in the energy sector is now stable, although the enemy continues daily attacks on energy infrastructure and each attack does not contribute to the stability of the power system.
“In the past day alone, we have restored power to 6,500 households. This is a significant amount, and it is worth noting that despite the alarms and constant risks, the power engineers are responding, restoring power and bringing electricity to consumers,” said Mykola Kolisnyk.
