The Belgian government has allocated EUR 1.5 million for the purchase of generators through the Belgian emergency response team B-FAST. This aid is essential for the Ukrainian regions affected by the enemy’s terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
“I am grateful to the Belgian Government for its prompt decision to help Ukraine. The additional equipment will help power engineers deal with the consequences of the floods caused by the russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. We greatly appreciate the support of our partners at this difficult time for Ukraine,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.
As a reminder, on 8 June, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), German Galushchenko and Belgian Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten reached an agreement on the provision of emergency generators to Ukraine to deal with the consequences of the flooding caused by the Kakhovka HPP disaster.
In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Belgium has sent four shipments of humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of equipment weighing more than 36 tonnes.
