Results of humanitarian demining in December: Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture
In December, as part of the state programme to compensate for the cost of demining agricultural land:
- 3,020 hectares of land were demined by mine action operators;
- 15 agreements on the demining of agricultural land were fulfilled;
- UAH 171.4 million were received by mine action operators for the work performed;
- UAH 56,800 per hectare – the average cost of land demined in December under the programme;
- The Humanitarian Demining Centre (HDC) signed 28 contracts to clear about 10,000 hectares of agricultural land.
In total, since the launch of the state compensation programme, the HDC has signed 133 contracts for the demining of 27,800 hectares of agricultural land. The cost of such work is UAH 1.78 billion. The state programme for compensation for the cost of demining agricultural land is financed within the framework of the Ukraine Facility Plan, a financial support instrument from the European Union.
In December, the HDC successfully conducted tenders and signed 10 contracts for the demining of 7,955 hectares of agricultural land in the Kharkiv region. A record application was submitted by ADP-AGRO LLC, which already has successful experience participating in the compensation programme.
On 5 December, the third annual summary event in the field of humanitarian demining in Ukraine, the Demine Ukraine Forum, took place. The event brought together more than 500 representatives of the government, manufacturers, innovators, civil society organisations and international partners in Kyiv. Participants discussed the strategy for international support to Ukraine, investment in the humanitarian demining sector, and partnerships between the state and private operators in mine action.
During the Forum, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Ihor Bezkaravaynyi presented GRIT, a digital platform for planning, prioritising and monitoring humanitarian demining. Based on the platform's calculations, more than 5,000 hectares of agricultural land were included in the Humanitarian Demining Plan for 2026.
