The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine enhances cooperation with the world's largest donor in the field of nature protection and restoration - the Global Environment Facility.
Over the past three decades, the GEF has provided more than $22 billion in grants and blended financing for environmental projects in different countries.
While participating in COP15 in Montreal, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets had the opportunity to meet and discuss with GEF CEO Carlos Manuel Rodriguez environmental projects that Ukraine is implementing jointly with the Global Environment Facility.
According to Ruslan Strilets, Mr. Rodriguez is closely following the news about the war in Ukraine and is grateful to our country that despite all the difficulties Ukraine continues to implement environmental projects together with the GEF and to expand their capabilities.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources agreed with Mr. Rodriguez that the GEF Secretariat would consider the possibility of cooperation with Ukraine in the field of post-war environmental rehabilitation, water policy, chemical safety and air pollution.
Ruslan Strilets stressed: "Ukraine, as a candidate for EU membership, is already actively preparing for post-war rehabilitation and is forming a legislative basis for this in accordance with the EU requirements, so as not to waste time and start work in the first days after the end of hostilities."
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine expresses gratitude to Mr. Carlos Rodriguez for supporting Ukraine and remaining indifferent to the consequences of the russian invasion of our country.
