Registration for participation in the TalentA-2023 educational and grant programme for the development and support of talented rural women farmers is open.
TalentA is an international educational and grant programme implemented annually by Corteva Agriculture in Ukraine, contributing to the improvement of food security by expanding educational opportunities and access to finance for women living in rural areas and engaged in agriculture. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has been an institutional partner of the programme throughout its existence in Ukraine.
The programme includes an online training hub and a grant competition for micro-projects. The winners of the programme will share a grant fund of over UAH 1 million, which Corteva Agriculture allocates to farmers to develop their own businesses and provide social support to their communities.
“The development of women’s farming is extremely important now, as it is women who are responsible for ensuring the viability of the economic front during the war. And effective business development is impossible without relevant knowledge and financial support, which is difficult for farmers to attract during the war and economic crisis. That is why we are happy to support the TalentA programme initiated and funded by Corteva Agriculture, which is an example of responsible global business, as it immediately withdrew from the russian market and fully supports Ukrainians, demonstrating respect for the value of human life,” said Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Registration for TalentA-2023 started on March 8 and will last until May 30. The programme is open to women who meet the following eligibility criteria: 18 years of age or older; resident in a settlement with a population of up to 10,000 people; or working in a registered agricultural enterprise in such a settlement that has been in operation for at least one year.
The programme’s curriculum aims to help women involved in agricultural production to make their businesses viable despite the full-scale war, to ensure their growth and to create new projects that contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals and meet the current needs of local communities.
Participation in the TalentA programme is free of charge. Upon completion of the programme, participants can take part in a grant competition for business development and community support. The winners will be announced in October on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women.
