Ukraine got on the path of changes in this difficult period of history, and this time requires firm decisions. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated during the meeting with Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State during 2005-2009.
"We have very interesting discussions ahead, especially when we talk about the threats we are facing today", the Prime Minister said. "We have both internal challenges and external threats and we are so much grateful to the U.S. policy of supporting our sovereignty. We must build a democratic and secure future together. We are on the path of changes. This is a challenging time. The challenges are serious. It’s time to make firm decisions".
In turn, Condoleezza Rice noted that she had visited Ukraine for the first time back in 1979. Already then our state became special for her.
"I realized how much needed to be done, how difficult it would be, especially in the context of building democracy. I even wrote a book about the development of democracy", the former U.S. Secretary of State said. "This process requires strength and patience. However, I think that the United States is a support for Ukraine. I’m glad we have strong ties. Thus, they need to be supported - at different levels and in different sectors. I see your commitment to the reforms and I think that the United States will be an important partner and support for you".
