One of the implemented steps to provide support of medical workers by the Government is additional payments to medical workers by 26%, 76% and 126%. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada during A Question Time for the Government on November 6.

"If medical workers have expanded workload, then the adjustment coefficients will be used, allowing them to receive higher salaries," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister reminded that in order to provide doctors with decent wages, the Government had established two simultaneous levels of surcharges for doctors who are at the forefront of the fight against the spread of the disease at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Fringe benefits of 300% for medical workers involved in the fight against COVID-19 are already paid automatically through the National Health Insurance Fund in appropriate packages for all hospitals and doctors. All the necessary agreements have been concluded with the National Health Insurance Fund and medical institutions," the Head of Government emphasized.

Denys Shmyhal also noted that since September this year, the Government had increased the salaries of all, without exception, medical workers by 25%, 50% or 75%. "These are additional funds to the salary of medical staff in the amount of UAH 1,300 to UAH 3,500 per month," he explained.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, the Government has adopted a decision that will allow family doctors to receive more money for each concluded declaration.

"We understand that amid the pandemic the burden on family doctors has also increased and they also partially or fully involved in the fight against coronavirus. The tariff for one concluded declaration will be increased from the current UAH 600 to UAH 652 per year," Denys Shmyhal said.
