Major repairs are under way on the M-09 Ternopil–Lviv–Rava-Ruska (towards Lublin) national highway, on the section between Lviv and the Rava-Ruska border crossing with Poland.

The works are being carried out under the Development of the Trans-European Transport Network (Ukraine – Road Corridors) project with financial support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The total value of the works exceeds EUR 100 million.

Construction began in April 2025 and covers two sections of the road with a combined length of more than 62 km.

“Despite the challenges of war, we continue to implement strategic infrastructure projects. The reconstruction of the M-09 road is an investment in safe and modern transport links with the European Union. This route is one of the key corridors for passenger and freight transport to the Polish border, so its modernisation strengthens Ukraine’s logistics capacity, supports the economy and brings our transport system closer to European standards,” said Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development.

On one section, construction is already nearly 50% complete, with work focused on laying the road pavement layers.

Work is also progressing on six bridges, with completion ranging from 53% to 85%, while one bridge has already been completed.

On the other section, more than 40% of the works have been completed. Reconstruction is under way on seven engineering structures. Six of them are 80–90% complete, while another is 45% complete. Three bridge structures have already been fully completed.

The route forms an important part of the international transport corridor to Lublin and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Its modernisation will support international logistics, increase transport capacity and strengthen Ukraine’s transport integration with the European Union.
