The number of unemployed in Ukraine has decreased by a third, says Oleksiy Lyubchenko
As of August 16, 2021, the number of officially registered unemployed amounted to 315,000 people. This is 179,000 people or 36% less than on this date last year. The increase in employment and the decrease in the number of unemployed are the result of the introduction of government programs to support the development of the economy and business, - commented the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko.
Oleksiy Lyubchenko also announced additional government measures to create jobs and employ the unemployed during the implementation of national targeted, regional, investment and other programs and projects the originators of which are public authorities.
“During the implementation of such programs and projects, a special emphasis is on the implementation of employment indicators, including the creation of new jobs. We will constantly monitor and control this process. The goal is for the economy to recover and the number of officially employed citizens must grow despite the challenges, such as possible new quarantine restrictions related to new coronavirus mutations both in Ukraine and in the world,” the First Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
It should be noted that GDP in QII of 2021 increased by 5.4% compared to the same period of 2020. The factors of GDP growth were: resumption of activity in almost all types of economic activity, increasing the volume of large-scale construction projects, intensification of construction against the background of the launch of the mortgage lending program and favorable conditions in foreign commodity markets.
