Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, took part in a meeting of the Political Committee of the NATO-Ukraine Council.
The meeting was dedicated to the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. The event took place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels yesterday, 15 April.
In her statement, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the situation in Ukraine depended on both military and non-military assistance. Therefore, the importance of the latter should not be underestimated, especially in the frontline areas.
The official thanked the Alliance for the humanitarian, financial and military assistance provided by the Allies. At the same time, she stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of joint assistance projects with NATO and to ensure sustainable funding.
"In times of war, humanitarian response, early recovery and other means of supporting civilian resilience are crucial. Therefore, in addition to military investments, we need social investments, because they only work together. But the most important thing is the speed of assistance: military and non-military," Iryna Vereshchuk emphasised.
The allies confirmed their readiness to support Ukraine and provide assistance.
Special attention was paid to the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This included the forced mobilisation and passporting of the population in the TOT, as well as the deportation of children to russia and their return.
The Allies stressed the need to bring russia to justice for its crimes in Ukraine.
In addition, during her visit to NATO Headquarters, the Deputy Prime Minister met with NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Boris Ruge.
