Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, chaired a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Pension Fund, regional military administrations, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, and other agencies and organizations.
Among other issues, the meeting participants discussed payments under the Prykhystok (Shelter) program, which provides compensation for free temporary housing for internally displaced persons. It is paid in the amount of UAH 450 per month for accommodation of one IDP during the warm season and UAH 900 during the heating season.
According to the Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, the relevant compensations for March and April of this year have already been paid for a total amount of over UAH 360 million. Thus, almost 200,000 homeowners have received payments for sheltering IDPs. In addition, next week the funding of compensation for sheltering IDPs in May is to begin.
The issue of payments to IDPs remains under special control of the Coordination Center. We are talking about a monthly state aid for living expenses in the amount of UAH 3,000 for people with disabilities and children and UAH 2 thousand for other internally displaced persons.
Currently, payments to IDPs for July have been fully funded for a total amount of UAH 6.3 billion.
