Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, held a meeting on employment of internally displaced persons.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education and Science, the State Employment Service, and other agencies.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, employment is one of the key areas in the recently adopted Strategy of State Policy on Internal Displacement until 2025.
As noted by Iryna Vereshchuk, grants for starting a business under the Government’s eRobota project, as well as the Affordable Loans at 5-7-9% programme, are proving effective.
There are also other programmes to promote entrepreneurship and employment, but they are not enough.
International donors should be involved in IDP employment programmes. It is also necessary to retrain IDPs. Education vouchers for IDPs of working age are a promising option. This will allow them to adapt and integrate more quickly into host communities.
Employment of IDPs is a priority for the Government.
