  • Employment of IDPs will be among Government's priorities in 2023: Iryna Vereshchuk

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, said during a live broadcast on a single telethon that employment of IDPs will be among the Government's priorities in 2023.

She explained that in most regions that had received internally displaced persons, the same trend was clearly visible. IDPs who already have a job try to move from places of compact residence to individual rented housing and integrate better into local communities.

"In Rivne region, which my team and I recently visited, I heard a correct saying, in my opinion: "Busy hands will never drop". This is said by people who sincerely want to integrate. They realize that no one else can make their lives better than they can. That is why they look for work and achieve their goals," said Iryna Vereshchuk.

According to her, this will not happen without the sincere desire of the people themselves. And if there is a desire, the Government is always ready to help. The Deputy Prime Minister advised IDPs to use the opportunities of the government's eRobota project more boldly, to apply to employment centers, and not to be afraid of retraining.

"For example, there are thousands of people of working age in Rivne region. Only a small proportion of them have found employment through employment centers. What does this indicate? Probably the availability of opportunities and lack of communication. IDPs need to be offered not only job options but also the opportunity to undergo retraining," summarized Iryna Vereshchuk.
