Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, met with Jochen Flasbart, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.
The parties discussed bilateral projects. Some of these had already proved successful before the outbreak of full-scale war. However, the Deputy Prime Minister is convinced that the priority now is to fund housing programmes for IDPs.
“There are a large number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine. Even more people need housing. That is why I would be grateful if we could look at this area together and increase funding for it,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
The Deputy Prime Minister called on German partners to consider low-interest housing loans for young people. On the one hand, this will help more people get their own home in the short term. On the other hand, it will encourage people to find employment.
