The International Summit of Cities and Regions is an important platform that will facilitate recovery. This was stated by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, during a live broadcast on the Pershyy (First) TV Channel. She noted the importance of the event having a broad international dimension. Delegates of foreign countries gathered in the capital of Ukraine: the mayors of cities and regions, heads of executive bodies and associations, representatives of the Congress of the Council of Europe and other guests. On the Ukrainian side, there are heads of regions, cities, communities, etc.
According to the official, it is significant that the first partnership agreements between some Ukrainian and foreign cities were signed during the summit. Ministers, heads of local authorities, mayors and other officials had the opportunity to communicate live. In reality, we do not have time to exchange letters and coordinate actions for several months, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
"This summit is important because it allows us to communicate quickly. Then Ukrainian and foreign cities will agree on further steps of cooperation. The most important thing is what we see: our friends and partners are ready to help us and contribute to the recovery, invest in people. Because people and their well-being should be at the centre of agreements," Iryna Vereshchuk summed up.
