Today, August 11, the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko met with the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Ivan Krupko.
The event was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol, representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus responsible for economic cooperation and agriculture. The Belarusian delegation arrived at the invitation to visit the large-scale Ukrainian agro-industrial exhibition "AGRO-2020".
The participants of the meeting exchanged experience in the development of the agricultural sector and agreed to deepen trade and economic cooperation between the countries in this sector.
"Cooperation in the agricultural sector, with the view to prospects and opportunities for trade and sectoral cooperation, is of particular importance in the system of economic relations between our countries. Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus maintain a constant dialogue in the field of sanitary and phytosanitary norms, thereby contributing to the deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the states," said Ihor Petrashko.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Ivan Krupko invited the Ukrainian side to take part in BELAGRO 2020, one of the largest agricultural exhibitions in the Republic of Belarus, scheduled for September 2020.
For 5 months of 2020, the trade turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus amounted to more than USD 1.5 billion, and for the whole of 2019 - about USD 5.6 billion. According to this indicator, Belarus ranks 7th among the countries of the world. During five months of 2020, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus amounted to USD 213.3 million.
