Being a supplier of raw materials abroad Ukraine must apply the best scientific technologies and processing in the agro-industrial complex to ensure that added value and jobs remain in the country.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stressed during the opening of the AGRO-2020 exhibition on August 11. The event was also attended by the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko.

The Prime Minister thanked the representatives of the agricultural sector for the fact that amid coronavirus-inflicted challenges they remain "an island of stability on which the economy, our families, collectives and the state in general rely." The Head of Government added that Ukraine occupies a leading position in the agro-industrial sector in the world, and therefore the Government pays great attention to the development of the industry.

"The main directions are the reform of land relations, state programs to support small business in the agro-industrial complex, small farming, processing development programs and much more," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the representatives of the agro-industrial sector should feel the support of the state. That is why the exhibition is a good platform for joint dialogue.

Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko noted that over the past two decades, Ukraine has significantly increased exports of agricultural raw materials.

"We do not intend to rest on our accomplishments. This year, a UAH 4 billion resource has been allocated to support the industry. In previous months, together with the associations, we have developed a number of proposals for state support in 2021. Therefore, we urge you to join active discussions and provide more recommendations," Ihor Petrashko stressed.
