Communities in 10 regions to obtain 447 generators from the EU: the first 300 generators have already arrived in Ukraine
300 generators have arrived in Ukraine as part of a planned delivery of 447 generators, with support of the European Union. Of these, 445 are low-power (13.75 kW and 15 kW) and two are high-power (over 600 kW).
The delivery is being carried out through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism from the EU's strategic reserves rescEU and is being implemented in cooperation with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The total cost of the generators is EUR 3.7 million.
In particular, 148 low-power generators were delivered to Kyiv. Two trucks also arrived in Kropyvnytskyi, delivering another 152 generators. The rest are on their way and shall arrive and be distributed among communities in the near future.
"We are currently facing the most difficult energy challenge. The enemy is deliberately trying to deprive us of basic necessities: light and heat in our homes, water in our taps. But every delivery like today's is our joint response to this terror. The priority is social and medical facilities, shelters, and warming centers.
The equipment will help in the operation of boiler rooms, water supply facilities, treatment plants, and artesian wells. Your logistical support and role in distributing aid is an example of how the public sector and European partners can work as a single, well-coordinated mechanism," said Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine — Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba.
This concerns frontline regions and regions affected by russian shelling of critical infrastructure: Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Some of the equipment is also intended for heat supply companies in the capital and Kyiv region.
The hardware is intended to support the work of social protection institutions, hospitals, shelters, resilience centers, and critical infrastructure facilities. The equipment is planned to use to ensure the operation of boiler rooms and water supply facilities.
The event brought together Katarina Mathernova, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Maryna Denysiuk, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, representatives of the European Commission, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, and partners involved in the delivery.
In the near future, all equipment will be supplied to the regions and put into operation, ensuring the stable operation of critical infrastructure and social protection of citizens in frontline and affected areas.
