Global effort coordination: Ilona Havronska presented the concept of the Diaspora Alliance for Ukraine's Recovery

Ilona Havronska, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity for European Integration, presented the concept of the Diaspora Alliance for Ukraine's Recovery during an event marking International Migrants Day, which took place on December 15 in Kyiv.

In her statement, the Deputy Minister emphasized that the Alliance is designed to transform the solidarity of Ukrainians abroad, partner states and governments, as well as international organizations into coordinated, concrete, and long-term actions that are consistent with state priorities and aimed at supporting Ukraine's recovery.

The Deputy Minister recalled that the idea of creating the Alliance had arisen during the Ukraine Recovery Conference, held this year in Rome. Later, in close cooperation with representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora and with the support of the International Organization for Migration, the key areas of the Alliance's work were identified. These are expected to cover economic cooperation, social cohesion and community development, the return and reintegration of Ukrainians, as well as the systematic collection of data and research necessary for effective coordination and policy-making.

"Thanks to the Alliance's coordinating role, we will have the opportunity to increase the effectiveness of support for diaspora organizations' initiatives: to direct resources where they are most needed, to implement larger and more sustainable projects with a long-term impact on social cohesion and integration," emphasized Ilona Havronska.

In her speech, the Deputy Minister paid special attention to the Alliance's connection with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity initiative to create a Ukrainian Unity Network abroad. According to her, participation in the Alliance opens up opportunities for civil society organizations to join the Network both through partnerships with Unity Hubs and through the implementation of consultative, educational, cultural, and social initiatives.

In conclusion, Ilona Havronska called on Ukrainian community initiatives abroad to join the Diaspora Alliance and the Unity Network, emphasizing that these instruments should contribute to strengthening the social cohesion of Ukrainians around the world and their active participation in the restoration of Ukraine.

The event on the occasion of International Migrants Day was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
