Ukraine intends to embark as soon as possible on a new cooperation program with the International Monetary Fund, which should start next year. This issue was discussed during a meeting in Berlin between the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Managing Director of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva.
The Head of Government thanked the Head of the Fund for having organized the mission to Ukraine, which completed its work in Vienna.
"We are making every effort to pass all the interim stages and transfer to the new program of cooperation with the Fund as soon as possible," the Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized.
Also, in the continuation of the dialogue between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Managing Director of the IMF, the parties discussed the need to create an international donor platform. It implies a mechanism of coordination of aid to Ukraine, determination of the main directions for priority and long-term recovery, as well as sources of their financing. According to the Prime Minister, this will allow a quick and effective response to economic challenges.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the consistent and unequivocal support of Ukraine from the International Monetary Fund opens up new horizons of cooperation to strengthen the state's economy.
