Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine Bridget Brink.

The Head of the Ministry of Energy informed the Ambassador about the current situation in the power system and the repair campaign at power facilities to restore them after the russian attacks.

“The situation in the power system is currently improving. We are successfully conducting a repair campaign. But, obviously, massive attacks will continue,” said German Galushchenko.

The parties discussed cooperation to protect the energy infrastructure. The importance of strengthening air defence was stressed, with a particular focus on measures to protect transmission system facilities around nuclear power plants. They also discussed international cooperation to implement the Peace Formula proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The parties also discussed the work of the Group for the coordination of international assistance for the prompt restoration of the energy system and preparation for winter, established under the Ministry of Energy, as well as its subgroups. In this context, the importance of increasing the capacity of distributed generation, including the installation of gas turbines, gas piston units and powerful generators, was emphasised.

German Galushchenko informed the Ambassador about a number of decisions taken to encourage households and businesses to install renewable energy facilities, including solar panels, as well as about existing loan programmes.
