German Galushchenko and French Minister of Foreign Trade discuss priorities for strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience

Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with a French delegation led by Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad Laurent Saint-Martin. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière.

“We feel the support of France in many energy sectors. These are projects with the participation of EDF and Energoatom, as well as a number of other companies, which allows us to strengthen the resilience of our energy system and strengthen the energy security of Ukraine as a whole,” the head of the Ministry of Energy said.

German Galushchenko thanked France for its assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector since the first days of russia’s full-scale invasion, including 37 humanitarian aid shipments totalling over 313.6 tonnes, including generators, power transformers and other essential energy equipment.

The importance of France’s contribution of EUR 5.7 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which is being allocated to the nuclear sector, was also highlighted.

The French side expressed appreciation for the way Ukraine has managed to maintain the resilience of its energy system in the face of russian attacks and assured that France would continue to support the Ukrainian energy sector.

The parties discussed areas of deepening cooperation in the nuclear industry, grid development, electricity distribution systems, as well as financial instruments and mechanisms of cooperation.
