Ukraine will be represented for the first time as an official member of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) during its ninth session  in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

Head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving (SAEE) Serhii Savchuk will take part in  the ninth session of the IRENA Assembly which will take place from 11 - 13 January 2019 in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). He will participate in the consideration of the annual report of Director-General of IRENA Adnan Z. Amin on the implementation of the Agency's work program for 2018-2019; in ministerial roundtables and discussions on the socio-economic benefits of the development of clean energy and world trends in this area; in discussions of  funding for the Abu Dhabi Development Fund projects.

During the events, the Head of the SAEE intends to present, first and foremost, main achievements and plans of Ukraine regarding the development of renewable energy, new legislative initiatives to stimulate the attraction of investments in this area, including regarding the transition to the system of auctions, as well as energy efficiency projects  which have been successfully implemented.

Apart from that, it is being planned to discuss issues related to future rules of the game on the Ukrainian market in the framework of auctions and promising investment green projects in Ukraine, including on energy utilization of garbage in the course of a meeting with Masdar company which is a global leader in renewable energy and sustainable urban development.
