Volodymyr Groysman stands for retrofitting coal industry
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman advocates changing the approaches to managing the coal industry towards modernization of production and social support of miners. The Head of Government said this during A Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada.
The Prime Minister informed that next week a special government meeting on the situation in the coal industry will be held. Topics on the agenda are problems in the coal industry, in particular wage delays.
"Arrears had accumulated because of the difference between the cost of coal and the cost of production. We do not finance coal mines, but we help to compensate the difference. The production does not allow to cover the expenses. And I do not find acceptable the current situation in the coal industry. Next year we will allocate UAH 2.3 billion for the modernization of mines. But if it continues (allocation of funds exclusively to compensate the difference in price) – I will no longer accept it. Together we need to find proper solutions", the Prime Minister underscored.
