The incumbent Government, which has been operating for three years, did not allow the country’s collapse, ensured sustainable economic growth and initiated fundamental transformations in various sectors. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said on opening a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, July 17.
The Head of Government stressed that parliamentary elections are due in Ukraine within a few days: a new composition of the Verkhovna Rada will be formed, a new coalition, and therefore a new Government. And that is why it is crucial to ensure that, from July 22, after the election, the key changes that have been launched to build a strong successful Ukraine are not stopped and curtailed, but are protected and extended.
Among the transformations that deserve further heightened attention, Volodymyr Groysman named decentralization, preservation of the course towards the improvement of social standards, infrastructure development and protection of national memory.
Speaking about decentralization, the Head of Government stressed that there are currently several options of the developments in Ukraine, the worst of which is federalization of the state.
"What is decentralization? That means new roads, new education space and many things that are needed for every family. What happens next? Either we will complete the amalgamation of communities, or we will abandon the system and destroy the system of financial decentralization. Either we will consolidate decentralization in the Constitution, or we will be coerced into federalization", urged Volodymyr Groysman. In his opinion, we have the choice of how to act - as well as what consequences will follow.
With regards to social standards, here, according to Volodymyr Groysman, there is also a choice - either to rely on the possibilities of the economy and stimulate de-shadowing, or rely on populism, accumulating debts, minting money and approaching default.
In this context, as the Volodymyr Groysman noted, the Government's another fundamental step is the revival of national memory, including the construction of memorial complexes, first of all, the Holodomor Victims’ Memorial.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, the Head of Government cited several examples of radical changes: New Ukrainian School, pre-school education, transformations in the health care system, completion of hospitals, first of all, Okhmatdyt, road network construction, support programs for families with children, etc.
According to Volodymyr Groysman, further changes will largely depend on the choice made on July 21, on the ability of voters to distinguish real advancement from manipulation.
Among other things, such manipulation the Prime Minister called a massive campaign in the media and social networks calling to vote for those and against the others, who are "allegedly underdog candidates."
"I want to say one thing: I think that people have the opportunity to decide who acts morally and sincerely, and who tells lies", stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
The PM also appealed to law enforcement officers to investigate the facts of counter-advertisement banned by law. "I hope the law enforcement agencies will make an appropriate judgment about those facts", Volodymyr Groysman emphasized.
