    Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman initiates to strengthen security measures at military facilities, primarily at munition depots. The Head of Government stressed on air of one of the nationwide TV channels, commenting on the developments on the territory of the military unit of the Ministry of Defense in Ichnya district, Chernihiv region. At the beginning of the week there broke out fire resulting into detonation of ammunition. This led to the evacuation of over 12 thousand people.

    The Prime Minister assured, the law enforcement agencies would investigate into the circumstances of the accident and draw the conclusions. However, the key version - sabotage - can not be excluded, because the munition depots have been and still remain one of the enemy's goals. But the main thing is that all services have learned to work smoothly to response to such situations.

    "The security system should be at the proper level", said Volodymyr Groysman. "This work must be intensified. We must improve the emergency response system, provide services with everything necessary to enable them respond to any danger."

    The Head of Government emphasized that many things in such a response system are made from scratch and we have a lot to be done, hovewer, we have understanding of the quality and purpose of such work. And it means saving lives, summed up Volodymyr Groysman.

    Background

    On the night of October 9, a fire broke out on the territory of the military depot of the Ministry of Defense in Ichnya district, Chernihiv region. 12,500 people were evacuated from the settlements in possible impact zones. The forces of the SES, the Ministry of Defense and local authorities deployed 18 temporary stations to place people. The fire trains and firefighting aircrafts remained on full alert. Currently the fire has been extinguished. But the zone of possible impact is divided into sectors for cleaning up explosive objects. De-miners, rescuers and units of the National Police have been working on the spot, the latter to prevent looting.

    To overcome the consequences of an emergency, the Government allocated UAH100 million.
