  • Hennadii Zubko: Chernobyl zone possesses great potential for green energy development
Service of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, posted 29 August 2019 10:20

The Chernobyl zone is a place of development in Ukraine in general. Belarus has already gone a little faster in this direction. The country has reduced the 30-kilometer the exclusion zone  to 10 km and have already defined the area in which businesses can be located and products can be produce. The same thing is happening in Ukraine. We have a natural reserve and there is also an industrial zone where wind and solar have the best investment attractiveness in Ukraine in terms of tariff. All Ukraine has free capacity of green energy, without load on tariff, up to 4 GW, and the Chernobyl zone - 2,1 GW. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko stated in an interview with Censor.net online newspaper.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister,  there is an opportunity to develop wind and solar energy in Chernobyl. But, most importantly, there is a possibility to create area where capacity for servers can be installed. "In Chernobyl there are opportunities to establish such instruments that do not require the attraction of a large number of people. This is energy storage or information storage servers. It is a matter of further development and the possibility of placing production that can work on imported raw materials. It is not a question of growing products or using raw materials that are in the Chernobyl zone", Hennadii Zubko stressed.
