Come Back Alive Foundation to support national team at Invictus Games 2023

Today, the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine hosted a working meeting between representatives of the Come Back Alive Foundation and the leadership and experts of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs.

Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina, together with Head of the Foundation’s Veterans Department Taras Kovalyk and Director of the Foundation’s Strategic Initiatives Department Ivan Naumenko, discussed the specifics of implementing the state veterans policy and possible areas for strengthening cooperation, given that Come Back Alive was a strategic partner of the Ministry.

The Head of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs informed the visitors about the priority projects and programs currently being implemented by the Ministry, including the preparation and participation of the Ukrainian national team in the Invictus Games international adaptive sports competition to take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, on September 9-16.

At the moment, preparations are underway for the Invictus Games All-Ukrainian competition in Lviv, which will take place at the end of April and will determine the Ukrainian national team, said Yulia Laputina.

Applications for participation in the selection are accepted until March 21 on the e-Veteran portal or at one's nearest Administrative Service Centre.

“Our country will be represented at the Games by a team of 24 athletes from among the military personnel and veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war who sustained wounds. They will compete in 9 sports,” said Yulia Laputina. “These competitions are traditional for the soldiers who sacrificed their health while defending the state, but found the strength and will to join the competition to achieve sporting results. Participation in the Games is also an invaluable experience for the development of a sports rehabilitation system for wounded war veterans and military personnel in Ukraine.”

As a result of today’s meeting, it was agreed that the Come Back Alive Foundation would join the organizational arrangements for the selection and formation of the Ukrainian national team, as well as its participation in the Invictus Games 2023 in Dusseldorf.
