  • Energy decentralization in action: about 7,500 households independently generate electricity through solar panels

    In an interview with Channel 112, the Head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serhii Savchuk presented the data proving there exists rapid demand of private households for the solar panels and the benefits of a small generation of clean energy for the country as a whole.

    "If in 2014 more than 20 families used solar power plants, by the end of 2018 there are already about 7.5 thousand of such households. Of these, 4.5 thousand families switched to the use of solar panels in 2018", said Serhii Savchuk.

    Among the three leading regions with the biggest number of households with solar panels are the following:

    - Dnipropetrovsk region - almost 900 families;

    - Kyiv region - more than 800;

    - Ternopil region - more than 600.

    For those families who are only planning to install solar power panels, there is good news. In the bill dated 5 December 2012, No. 8449-d, which is awaited to pass the second reading in the Parliament, it is foreseen for households to install solar power stations up to 50 kW.

    It is important that all green projects implemented by households are the necessary elements of energy decentralization in the country.

    In addition, small-scale projects of clean energy have a positive effect on the grid.
