Economic reforms allow to accumulate a resource of growth, but not borrowings, says Prime Minister

The economic and social reforms being implemented by the Government allow  to accumulate a resource of economic growth, economic opportunities, but not a resource of borrowings which form the debt burden on the budget. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during the offsite meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, which is taking place today in Kharkiv with the participation of representatives of regional bodies of the Ministry of Social Policy, regional and district administrations of the consolidated communities.

"The overriding priority of the Government is the economy that has absolutely qualitative opportunities for upturn.  Economic growth is an opportunity to provide people with work, salary as well as to  change life in the country in many spheres ", the Head of Government noted.

He cited data provided by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, according to which in the first quarter of 2018 the  growth  of GDP reached 3.1%.

 "3% indicator shows that a recovery is  on the way. Speaking  in terms of real numbers, the growth of 3-5% means the production of  products and services grew to  UAH 471 billion that is higher than last year. More than 5% growth  is real and corresponds to our capabilities. These are new jobs, higher wages, and the growing number of local and central budgets", the Prime Minister stressed.

The Head of Government emphasized that economic achievements will be reinvested in the life of Ukrainians. Thus, this is an updated system of education and training of skilled personnel for the needs of the market, a modernized health care system, a new infrastructure, which also enhances security measures, as well as an effective system of social protection for those who really need it. The issue at stake, first and foremost,  is the system of subsidies, which is now becoming more targeted and  being reformed in the direction of further monetization, as well as the system of providing social assistance to various categories of citizens on the basis of the money-follow-citizen principle and  in the format of transparent offices, which are really adapted to the needs of people .

 "The resource that we accumulate is not a resource of borrowings, but a resource of the national economy. Today, we face many challenges, and a high-quality social protection system is also becoming a global issue. Therefore, we need to  pay close attention to the needs of people, and  then we will succeed in everything", Volodymyr Groysman underscored.
