Dmytro Kuleba: Greek Foreign Minister is to pay visit to Ukraine in support of our state

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held a conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Dendias.

Dmytro Kuleba welcomed Nikos Dendias' decision to visit Ukraine, in particular to have a meeting with the Greek community in Ukraine in Mariupol. The head of Greek diplomacy assured his Ukrainian counterpart that the visit was an act of support for Ukraine.

"Last year, I called on all partners to pay visits to Ukraine in January-February 2022 in support of our state amid the security threats from the Russian Federation. The constant presence of high-ranking foreign guests in Ukraine reduces tensions. I appreciate that the head of Greek diplomacy also responded to this call and will visit Ukraine soon," Dmytro Kuleba stressed.

Minister Nikos Dendias said that the Greek side was closely monitoring the situation and believed that there were no grounds for anticipatory decisions. Greece has no plans to evacuate diplomats or members of their families, nor is it urging Greek citizens and Ukrainians of Greek origin to leave Ukraine. Instead, the Greek government is ready to continue to effectively assist the Greek community in Ukraine.

Dmytro Kuleba informed his colleague about the current security situation against the background of Russia's aggressive actions. The ministers discussed the preparation of sanctions by the European Union against Russia. The foreign ministers also agreed on a schedule of bilateral visits for 2022.

Ukrainian Minister Dmytro Kuleba noted the importance of further development of network diplomacy and close coordination of partners' positions with Ukraine before and after contacts with the Russian side, so that the Kremlin would not be in the least tempted to prolong military escalation.
